KZN Gravity MTB kicked off their season with the first round of the Greg Minnaar Rookie Series, held at the infamous Cascades Mountain Bike Park, home to South Africa’s Wold Cup Track. Course designer Nick Floros ticked all the boxes for this unique event, with Rookie friendly trails designed to entice both the young and old into the enduro discipline. The race which sees Rookies, who started riding in 2021 or later, split out from the “Pros”, creating a unique competition set to showcase the up and coming riders.

The field comprised of 90 Rookie riders and 40 Pro’s all battling it out for both individual and team glory on the day. A far cry from the muddy conditions from the previous round, the riders had prime conditions making racing considerably tighter.

Greg Minnaar was on hand throughout prize giving, congratulating the winners and taking time out to chat to riding community. The initiative funded by GM Cycles, and Greg Minnaar hope to grow the sport with these Rookie events, and demystifying Enduro and DH for riders looking to cross over.
